INTERCULTURAL WEEKInter wk9

Intercultural week was celebrated in Scoil Mhuire Fatima from April 4th - 8th. During that week, children were engaged in a variety of activities which incorporated story-telling, music and dance from other cultures and a broad range of art forms. A host of interesting visitors was welcomed to the school. They enhanced our awareness of Irish traveller ways, South American music and dance, and African culture. Staff and pupils entered enthusiastically into the spirit of Intercultural Week. There was an air of festive enjoyment combined with productivity and a keen interest in discovering and appreciating cultural similarities and differences. Festooned with flags, photographs and art work, the PE hall resounded with drumming, pan-pipes, singing, laughter and salsa music. A non-uniform day on Friday afforded pupils the opportunity to express their identity by way of traditional dress. A display of masks made by all classes, intermingled with the awarding of prizes brought a fun-filled week to a happy conclusion. (Click on photo to see more pictures of Intercultural week).

Not only did the pupils enjoy the play but the teachers enjoyed it too. The cast got Mr. Ward to go up and dance, a spectacular performance.
